The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on August 12, 2026, a $60,764 settlement with Rice Lake Weighing Systems, Inc., a Wisconsin-based manufacturer of weighing equipment, over its and its Italian subsidiary’s potential civil liability for eight apparent violations of U.S. sanctions on Iran. The conduct involved Dini Argeo S.r.l. (Dini), Rice Lake’s Italian subsidiary.
Between July 2019 and November 2021, Dini exported weighing equipment to a distributor in the United Arab Emirates with knowledge that the goods would be reexported to an end-user in Iran. OFAC said the exports occurred through the UAE distributor even though the goods were ultimately destined for Iran.
Rice Lake agreed to settle the potential civil liability associated with the apparent violations. OFAC determined that the apparent violations were voluntarily self-disclosed and non-egregious.
The settlement was announced in OFAC’s Recent Actions release titled “Settlement Agreement between the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control and Rice Lake Weighing Systems, Inc.” The release identifies the conduct as involving exports by Dini to the UAE distributor with knowledge of the goods’ intended reexport to Iran.
